The Legend of Blade and Grass

Long ago, there were the two forces: heroism, intelligence, and the most dreaded of all, grass! This annoying greenery just seem to spring up everywhere, and someone needs to put a stop to this menace! Luckily, our fairy friend had found the perfect hero up to the task of purging the lawn of grass. Someone worthy of wielding a legendary weapon... at least what is supposed to a weapon...

The Legend of Blade and Grass is a little game made by a group of friends for the GMTK game jam 2024 with the theme of Built to Scale. You shall forge your weapon as you walk the lands and use its bizarre form to destroy grass and other shrubbery that dares to spread like wildfire in the lands. This is a arcade game about building the biggest sword and then watching it obliterate the entire field in a satisfying manner, all in reference to the popular series The Legend of Zelda.

How to play

Assemble a sword by collecting ingots. The bigger your sword, the more powerful. Every ingot you touch will become part of your sword, but every time you swing your sword it disintegrates!

Your goal is to destroy as much foliage as possible. Leaving the foliage unattended for too long will slowly make it expire with a timer. Hit foliage with your sword to destroy it or reset its timer, because once the timer expires, it's game over!

Some enemies have an icon with a number next to it. Here is what those icons represent:

Heart	Get the number down to zero to defeat the enemy
Shield	One blow with a large enough weapon will do the trick
Sword	Slash it the amount of times indicated by the number
