Ever wanted to play touhou and breakout at same time? We've just got the game for you.  Breeze Ball is a game where you use your breath magic to propel bouncing balls to destroy blocks. But watch out as she is not safe from he balls or enemy fire. Timing your breath magic to hit the balls while moanuver around to avoid bullets and aim the ball is the key to your strategy. 


This game was made as a submission to the level 99 game jam. The theme was "Take a Deep Breath"  


Controls:

  • Move: WASD or arrow keys to move
  • Breath Attack: hold left click or space to charge up attacks, release to attack
  • Restart Level: R
  • Quit: Esc (this  quits the game without warning)


Mechanics: 

  • Move around and avoid contact with the blocks, balls or the enemies or you will Lose health
  • Only have 6 health so watch out and dodge
  • Your charge attack does not deal damage and only knocks back the ball, the longer you charge, the harder you'll hit the  balls and the larger the impact area is.
  • Once your charge area indicator turns yellow, you can deflect enemy bullets
  • Impacted balls and deflected bullets will move away from you.
  • Balls that are being knocked back will destroy any blocks it hits and do not hurt you for a short while
  • Different balls and blocks have different behaviours
  • Your goals in each level is to clear our all the blocks in the level. 
  • You'll gain points when destroying the blocks and increases your combo by one, Combo multiplies the score you air by it's amount but will reset to 0 once the combo timer runs out. Taking Damage also resets your combo to 0. Hitting balls and deflecting bullets will reset your combo timer.
  • Aim or a highscore and have fun :)


Tips and Tricks: 

  • Your player hitbox is just her shiny necklace, in other words it is smaller than the actual character. If you have played shoot-em-up games like touhou and Radiant Silver Gun, this mechanic should be very familiar to you. 
  • The balls always move directly away from where you are, so you can position yourself strageticly to aim the ball to a specific direction
  • your charge attack does not slow you down or have any cool down so it is a good idea to always be charging
  • Try to hit the balls often even if it will not go to where you want to keep your combo. 
  • If you are going for score, avoid taking damage at all cost as it will instantly reset your combo.
  • special blocks that can shoot are high priority targets, try to take them down first

Currenmly Known Issues:

  • moving to the next level from level 8 breaks the game.
  • pressing enter will reset the blocks but also messes up the gird logic, do not press Enter at all cost.
  • Missing art for the ball spawned
  • Balls are not responsive as soon as they spawn
